Healing Template for identifying & transforming past negative experiences
For those who discover that their past is having a profound negative influence on their present experiences and their potential future the following exercise is vital. First, take the time to write down all the negative experiences you have had in your past. Your memories hold keys to areas of woundedness and bondage so do not rush this process; keep writing until you know that you have identified most if not all the negative memories from your past. The next step is to process those memories as if you were reliving them while identifying what you felt at the time. Identifying the emotions you experienced will help you see the connection between how present experiences can trigger the same response patterns as the original experiences did. The third step is to identify how the original experience and emotions produced a dysfunctional framework of lies to help you cope with life's problems (what you ended up believing about God, others, and yourself). The last step is to find healing from your past and health for your future through prayer, truth, and healthy relationships. The goal of this experience is to completely dismantle and remove the power your past has over you and learn God's way of living life that is healthy and productive even in the face of challenges and difficulties.
