Are you 100% sure of what will happen to you after you die?
What is the purpose of life? In the New Testament (1st Corinthians 10:31 NLT) God says, "Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." God desires every person to live a life that perfectly reflects who He is. The problem is that we don't. We frequently want to do our own thing without regard for God. God calls such actions "sin" and holds us accountable for our sinful decisions. Because God is absolutely holy (without sin) He cannot simply overlook sin. As a perfect Judge He must deal with the violations committed against Himself. However, because of His amazing love for sinful people, He gives everyone a choice: they can either pay for their sin by being separated from Him in place of eternal torment (hell), or accept His loving choice to pay for our sins through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only hope people have of entering into a relationship with God. His perfection can be substituted for anyone who truly repents from her/his sins and completely trusts in Him as Savior and Lord. The life of Jesus is our perfect model. The death of Jesus is the perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty of our sins. The resurrection of Jesus is our perfect hope of defeating the power of sin; yielding ourselves to His Lordship unleashes His resurrection power.
Is there any distinction between authentic Christianity and religion? Yes there is! If you dig deep enough in any religion there will be a belief that indicates that people can earn God's favor and remove their own sin. Jesus taught that authentic Christianity was accepting the fact that once a sin has been committed it can never be reversed by the person who committed it no matter how sincere he or she may be; it can only be forgiven by the perfect substitute of His death on the cross. Those who believe they are good enough to earn a relationship with God will be greatly disappointed, in this life and the next. The clearer people can see their violations against God's holiness the easier it is for them to repent from their sins and accept God's loving forgiveness found in the finished work of Jesus.
Having a relationship with God is as simple as admitting your sinful condition to Him (Yes, God, I am guilty of violating Your perfection), repenting (I no longer want to live for myself), and receiving Jesus as your Savior and Lord (I accept the death of Jesus to pay for my sins, I believe His resurrection is proof that He defeated the power of sin, and I willingly give Him control of my life). At the moment you make that faith transaction between you and God, He promises to completely forgive you and make you His child (John 1:12). It is also at that moment that the whole spiritual development process begins helping you learn how to think, believe, and act like one of His daughters or sons.
The following adventure steps are designed to take you through that process, but first make sure that you have a relationship with God as one of His children. Are you 100% sure that you will spend eternity with God?
